We’re excited to announce that we’ve just released a set of updates that make it even better to record and share your sailing adventures on noforeignland.
Chapters
You can now break your journey into chapters. The default is one chapter per year, but you can organise them however you like.
On our own journey, we’ve used seasons and major crossings — it’s a clear way to show where we were at different times.
You can keep the defaults or add your own. Tap the Settings cog (shown below) to name your chapters and set the dates.

Rich Content
We’ve also updated how stories are shown. Instead of being limited to a single image, you can now add full image galleries, and easily embed YouTube videos, and link to blog articles by pasting links in the editor:

Share with friends and family
Everything works fully in both the app and the website. Sharing is simple: just copy the URL from the browser address bar when viewing your journey on our website, and send it to friends or family. All they need to do is click the link — no app required, no sign-up needed, and it’s completely free.
These updates are live now. Download the latest version of the app to try them on your own journey and see how much more you can share.

Great update, thank you so much!
Wow, fantastic!
All that‘s missing is support for 360° photos and videos 😄
Great feature!
But I have a little problem: When I add my individual chapters, I always see also the first track from the next chapter. Unfortunately I can only give a start date but not an end date of the chapter.
Any idea to solve this?
Hi Robert,
A chapter ends when the subsequent one starts. If you’re seeing tracks appearing in a chapter that you’re not expecting, then change your chapters’ start dates so that they correcly capture the times recorded in your track. If you’re still seeing errors, then check that your tracking uploads have the correct dates on them by tapping the grey fix dots at the end of each section of track.
I hope that helps.
Steve.
Hi Steve,
you wrote: “… then change your chapters’ start dates so that they correcly capture the times recorded in your track.”
I tried to do so, but there is no way to edit a chapter and therefore no way to change chapters’ start date. How to do that?
Mathias
In the app main menu open: Settings -> Journey settings. You’ll see a list of your chapters. Just tap on a chapter to edit it. You can change it’s name and date here.
What an excellent new feature! Love that I can share the url to my non sailing friends and family.
Thanks for all your hard work!
Glad you like it Kathy – if you use the Share button it will generate a link to your boat page allowing your friends and family to bookmark it and see exactly where you are at any time.
